Survivor - questions on what counts against
Few questions here -
PvP (various modes) including early Shing Jea arena, insignia quest (early shing jea), zaishen challenge... I suppose I'll pull out my other characters to test a few of these and check /deaths but anyone already do so? Just short some slots/easy ability to test some of these |

They all count.
The only things that don't count are: 1. Mission failure where everybody is instantly killed, but you weren't independently killed before that. 2. Deaths occurring as part of a quest. The only example of this that I know of is the initial PvE character initiation before going into the Monastery, where you are taught about the resurrection shrine in the Monastery Overlook. Other than the above two situations, all deaths count. It makes it a little more difficult to map the Shing Jae Arena if you're going for both survivor and Grandmaster Cartographer, doesn't it ? At least it is possible to get the title without the Shing Jae arena part, albeit more difficult, obviously. |

so for clarification, if you are in a PUG, everyone else gets killed and you are the last one standing. What do you do to keep you on track?
Do you: A: Leave the group. b: Die, only if you are the last one standing C: Resign, which doesn't seem to do a darn thing |

Resign "doesnt seem to do a darn thing" because EVERYONE in the group has to tpye /resign for it to work.
Anyway, if you were going after the title, you'd be forced to leave to keep from dying. Most people going after Survivor just "cheat" and have guildies/friends power level them in some extent. |

I have never had /resign work in PvE. Whether everybody /resigned, or I was alone, or with henches. Never worked.
If you are the last man standing, if you don't have res, either you 1) map out; 2) log off; or 3) if there is a critical NPC to keep alive, let them die. If you die from the mobs, you lose the survivor track continuation. So, either A or C, but definitely don't do B. And as for most people cheating by being power levelled, this may be true, but I am certainly going to earn it on my own. I have already gotten the first level, but died when not paying attention, and restarted. I have higher aspirations. I will do it through normal gameplay, not powerlevelling. Having others get your title for you is pretty cheap... It demeans the titles for everyone else. |

Swinging Fists ~ I agree about earning the title myself as well. It's good to hear that some people are doing this. Like former said many people short cut it. The same goes with the drunkard title, fame or other titles you can short cut. To me titles don't really mean much except when I know I've earned them. I don't expect other people to be too impressed with it, but I know I worked for it and I like that. |
